Permanently Banish That Double Chin With Surgery-Free SculpSure

We all know the selfie stance. We have the sultry stare down pat. We suck in our cheeks to just the right level. And we hold the camera as high as possible to hide that wobbly, double chin.

Generations of women have struggled with the dreaded double chin, and our grandmothers slept in chin straps and slapped themselves silly. Our mothers resorted to plastic surgery, which skewed their face and left them open to scarring and infection.

Thankfully, we have a new option. Dr. Dennis Roberts offers SculpSure®, a nonsurgical procedure that gets rid of fat cells for good.

What is SculpSure?

Approved just in the last few years by the FDA, SculpSure uses lasers to heat fat cells under your skin, leaving the surface cool and comfortable. The procedure, which lasts about 25 minutes, kills fat cells in small, targeted areas. In the weeks after the treatment, your body slowly eliminates the dead cells, leaving the area flatter and smoother.

Is SculpSure new?

The procedure has been available for a couple years as a treatment for thighs and love handles.  However, it gained FDA approved for chin treatment in 2017. Before then, the only treatments for reducing a double chin included liposuction and plastic surgery.

What makes SculpSure different?

Unlike older forms of fat reduction such as liposuction and plastic surgery, SculpSure is noninvasive, so there is virtually no risk of infection. In addition, liposuction involves removing large pockets of fat cells. This may lead to dimpling or an uneven chin.

SculpSure, on the other hand, uses lasers to target small groups of cells. This allows Dr. Roberts to feather the fat cell reduction, giving patients a smoother line and a more natural look. Finally, there is some evidence that, because SculpSure uses heat and lasers, it stimulates collagen production in your skin. This makes the chin look more youthful and taut.

Is SculpSure for everyone?

No, it really isn’t. SculpSure isn’t designed to remove fat if you are obese. It isn’t meant to take the place of a healthy diet and exercise. Instead, it works best for people who have a body mass index of 43 or less.

How long will it take to recover from the procedure?

Because SculpSure is noninvasive, you can leave the office and go right back to your normal daily activities. Some patients have some slight bruising in the area, or a tiny bit of swelling, but most people tolerate the procedure well.

They will walk out of the office the exact same way they walked in. The only difference is that their body is already beginning to eliminate dead fat cells.

How long does it take to see results?

It depends on the size of the area treated. It takes time for your body to pull the dead fat cells from the treated area. Most people start to see changes in a few weeks. All the affected fat cells are eliminated in 6-12 weeks. By that time, you and your doctor can determine if you like the new look as is, or if you feel a second treatment is needed.

Because your body is eliminating fat cells, that double chin is gone for good. So, wave bye-bye to the bane of all selfies and visit Dr. Roberts to discuss if SculpSure is right for you.
